Aged Care Roadmap

Geras Partners deliver peace of mind to clients in their golden years.
We provide aged care roadmaps for families that solve the aged care puzzles, boosts pensions and shrink aged and home care costs.

Statistics for Australia indicate that over the coming 30 years to 2050 the number of persons over 70 will increase from two million to six million. In the same period those over 80 will increase from 0.4million to 1.8 million. Life expectancy will significantly extend as health management and medical services continue to improve.

Managing the last third of most lives will become more dependent on careful planning as governments are expected to increasingly move to user pay strategies. As can be seen in Figure 4 below at end of life males have an average 3.4 years and female 5.6 years of severe disability. For peace of mind an aged care roadmap should be developed one or two years before some disability arises. In practice this tends to arise with issues of mobility, sight or physical health in the mid 70’s to 80’s.

Our aged care roadmap is a multi-step process that considers your individual needs above all else to ensure that they are met. We will advise as to how to progress your ACAT assessment, we will outline home car, respite care and aged care costs so that you understand the implications on your family budgets.

The Geras Partners aged care roadmaps are a carefully constructed plan-for-the-future that ensures a worry-free future. At our initial meeting we agree on the key matters and options to be evaluated, for example:

  • We focus on ensuring government sponsored entitlements are obtained
  • We compare different options available to fund the required care – for example sale of rental of the family home
  • We define the over cashflow impact into the future
  • We describe different investment options for your assets to cover the cost of care
  • Aged Care Roadmap Case Study

    In Elizabeth’s case, we considered:

  • Sale of the family home and purchase of a government guaranteed aged care unit
  • Rental of the family home and the aged care unit
  • Rent of the family home and mortgage to buy an aged care unit
  • We perform a financial projection of all income such as pension, dividends, rental, living expenses and aged care cost out over 5 to 10 years.
